Completing the Bronze Medallion is incredibly rewarding, it will build on your surf skills and give you the skills to complete an aquatic rescue. For parents of Nippers - I have found being a patrolling member has increased my children’s nipper experience as you are able to be in the water with them and later patrol with them once they are completed their Surf Rescue Certificate.
There are some prerequisites to completing the course. You need to be:
15 years of age
able to complete a 400m pool swim in 9 minutes
a financial member of Catherine Hill Bay Surf Club
The course cost $50, this covers the cost of the actual certificate and medallion you received once you have passed the assessment at the end of the course. As part of the bronze medallion, we ask that you complete you First Aid Certificate you can arrange this by a third- party provider or we will run a course at the club which costs approximately $100.00.
